Meet Footloose

Our beloved Alberg 37 and your ride for an unforgettable day on the bay. Designed by Carl Alberg, this classic 37-foot sailboat is known for her timeless lines, solid build, and smooth, steady ride. She's a true beauty—elegant, seaworthy, and made to handle whatever the wind brings with both grace and grit.

Footloose is perfect for kicking back on deck, soaking up the sun, and feeling the power of the wind in the sails. Her cozy cabin and roomy cockpit make her comfortable for relaxing, but make no mistake—she’s a real sailor’s boat.

Fair warning: Footloose has a bit of a wild side. She loves to heel (tilt) when the wind fills her sails—it’s all part of her adventurous spirit. If you're up for a little lean and a lot of fun, you're in the right place.

Meet Your Captain

Joey Chemello
Born and raised in Traverse City, Captain Joey Chemello is a true Great Lakes pirate at heart—salty, skilled, and always up for an adventure. With 8 years of sailing experience, Joey holds a U.S. Coast Guard OUPV license and is CPR and AED certified, bringing a calm, capable presence to every trip aboard Footloose.

Joey’s deep knowledge of boats comes from both time on the water and on shore—he works year-round at Harbor West as a yacht hauler, rigger, and service technician, giving him hands-on experience with all kinds of vessels. He’s also spent time working on other sailing charters, where he fine-tuned his warm, welcoming approach that puts guests instantly at ease.

In the off-season, Joey is a passionate backcountry snowboarder, he’s lived out west chasing powder and earning his Avalanche 1 certification—proof that he takes mountain safety as seriously as he takes seamanship. With his adventurous spirit, old soul, and love for sharing the beauty of the bay, Captain Joey is ready to show you the best of life under sail.
